i mean, c'mon, basically one of my bezza friends told me to do this and i did and it is a little bit brilliant- the new arcade fire video thing!
but anyways when you're in your pyjamas at an underground party thing and you've lost your phone again. sometimes, like i just did you turn into an embarassing thing which i can only think of right now as a purist but i'm sure that's not right, anyway despite the magnificence of the basement (please excuse my spelling and grammar) i can only say what i think and that is that the basement would have benefited from a bit of this.........

HALOHA!

ok so i apologise for once again attempting to yet again be bilingual in the title. I am very much unfortunately a one language girl, apart from being able to talk about Beyonce for approx 2 mins in German due to a strange ability to remember my GCSE 'sprechen' exam.
I noticed afew hawain influenced pieces at D and G, hawaain prints never fall out of favour with me like. They hold so many exotic faraway dreams within their palm trees, surf boards, flowers and waves.
SHHHHHHHH!
RIDE 'EM COWBOY!

couldn't help but pick on a few western references at dries van noten and D and G, faded denim and tan. There's something about the wild west, i recently became rather addicted to an e4 daytime drama called heartlands. It's about a modern day ranch with a girl who has a gift with horses and there's a male heart throb for all ages! I'd recommend it to anyone.
CHECK IT OOOOOUT!

happy face

apologies for the obvious pun in the title, can't help myself. Checks just never go away do they? Comme managed to do something a little bit different, seeming to zoom in on sections or have patchworks of various checks in different colours. Thom Browne had slightly more traditional checks but bright and bold and and clashing and geeky! at Walter Van Beirindonck playful checks made harnesess, mental shirts, corsets and pretty much everything else.
BOY

Have you seen these bad lads knockin about recently? perhaps on a certain Miss Chloe Sevigny nipping down the shop in the upper/lower eastside (honestly don't know my way around nyc to know the correct side). Turns out these vintage beauties have made a come back with BOY doing a collaboration with urban outfitters. There really is nothing like an actual vintage rock t shirt though is there? My best friend used to wear her dad's motorhead tshirt, and i was jealous. You can't buy the authentic rips and tears, a result of years of mosh pit abuse and loyal head banging. But hey, every real vintage t shirt started off shiny and new, and someone's got to start the cycle again!
'MEN AT WORK' AT KRIS VAN ASSCHE

Kris Van Assche was inspired by working men this s/s with a colour palette of grey white and black. Chic black vests with classic Van Assche hareem trousers formed simple, elegant silhouettes. Whereas some of the boys looked as though they'd just returned from a bike ride on a rainy day with mud splattered up their backs! There is a fluidity in Kris Van Assche's work, in the gentle draping. There is also i feel, a realness, an integrity there which stems from his respect and reference to the working man. When he speaks of working men i hope he means builders and electricians and painters, coz that's what springs to my mind.

James Long S/S 11

poppy red brightened up this collection delightfully, in foxy knits and floral printed shirt. A worker vibe came with the utility belts and cargo pants. I've fallen in love with those khaki trousers, with the long button front and massive drawstring, it's as though certain elements have been exaggerated. They look so comfy too!

Culture Club - Karma Chameleon (Ledge Music Electro 80...
'lovin' would be easy if your colours were like my dream"
(yeah it was karma chameleon, check the hair ribbons)
PETROU/MAN S/S 11

Again denim, beige and white form the colour palette for this collection, except Petrou has injected it with vibrant blue prints in the form of checks and yellow on blue (bananas?). The models were presented surrounded by butterflies and ribbons, surrounding there heads in a whirlwind of magic and colour. For some reason images of Boy George are popping up in my head, is it the Karma Chameleon video? or maybe it's just me and my recent new found appreciation for the smooth voiced slinky mover. Overall, Petrou has produced a casual, wearable smart collection, and the happy prints and imaginative feel are uplifting.
COMME DE GARCONS, S/S 11 MENSWEAR

skull prints dominated along with checkerboard and a generally monochrome palette. The skull print has a lot of variations, skulls are overlapped and clustered creating a floral effect, some black on white, some black on grey, grey on white and my favourite white on grey! The different variations of the skull motif prints merge well together creating a frenzy of little skulls dancing all over the catwalk, even twirling when printed onto full fifties style skirts! All trousers were loose fitting either long shorts are 3/4 length.
