Prada s/s 11, MIlan

Unpredictable as always, Muiccia Prada always produces garments which i initially question and am thrown by, and ultimately accept, admire and marvel at. It's the same every season. Beginning with a load of skinny navy suits there is apparently a feeling of uniformity to the collection, then breaking into head to toe denim. Denim tops that have a look of restriction to them, not front fastening all high necked and some rippling across the chest as if the model underneath would quite like to be set free! The sunglasses featured are straight away reminding me of something my Dad might wear on holiday and think he's cool, or perhaps a ski instructor would wear them in a semi-cool sporty/snowy way, with their reflective lenses and thin frames. No doubt i will soon accept them as a perfectly acceptable and relevant fashion item. Such is the power of the mind of Muiccia Prada, you know there's a reason behind every striped sweater, stacked brothel creeper, and belt bag. This makes every piece all the more intriguing. I wonder are the pocketed oversized t shirts a reference to surgical scrubs? i'm sure i've seen Patsy Kensit in that dusty pink number on Holby City. It's good to see the wide legged denim shorts, almost culottes, and the denim on denim but with contrasting colour density. The navy 3/4 sleeve jumper has a subtle bell shaped silhouette and i love the horizontal neckline leaving just a dash of crisp white shirt collar.
